Thyroid :small gland, big function

Thyroid: Small Gland Big Functions

You’re following a healthy regime, eating healthy, but you feel like that your energy is being drained out. Your body is pumping out more fat-storing thyroid toxins into your belly and failing your weight loss regime. Do you want to know the reason behind it? Its simple answer is the thyroid gland. The thyroid gland is a small gland but performs big functions and responsibilities. It is an “engine” in our bodies that powers everything from body temperature, digestion, metabolism, muscle strength, skeletal growth, and sexual development to the health of the heart, brain, kidneys, and liver.

Why these problems occur?

These problems occur due to its secretion either overactive or underactive. Sometimes it is because of the structure of the thyroid gland: changes in size or the development of nodules.

Thyroid at the stage of puberty

At puberty, the thyroid starts to produce more thyroid hormone. This hormone is needed for the rapid growth and sexual development that occurs during adolescence. Thus, a low-functioning thyroid at this stage of life can delay puberty and delay the development and growth of the organs.

Thyroid gland secretion is more Hyperthyroidism…

When your thyroid gland is overactive, the result is hyperthyroidism, which increases a person’s metabolic rate. Hyperthyroidism is the result of the overproduction of T3 and T4 by the body. In which the body produces antibodies that stimulate the thyroid to secrete excessive quantities of thyroid hormones. It can also be caused by a toxic multinodular goiter, a condition that occurs when a hyperfunctioning nodule develops within a long-standing goiter.
